2020 Annual Report
In a recent interview with Carey Nieuwhof, Pastor and Author Rick Warren described how, in 2020, we faced five life-changing, world-altering storms.
Global infirmity. Racial inequality. Social Instability. Financial Insecurity. Political Incivility.
At any given time, one of these storms may lead to things like grief, fatigue, or an extreme sense of personal loss. We faced all five in one year! Warren went on to forecast that…
“In the days ahead, we’ll continue to face the implications of the storm, including a tsunami of grief for many of the things we have lost over the last year.” Rick Warren
Most of us would agree that at least some of what Warren describes has been true in our lives or in the lives of those we love. We have experienced the impact of the storm.
Yet, I have good news! As I shared with over 250 church leaders and city influencers at our recent Citywide Leader Gathering; I’m convinced that Jesus does some of his best work in the face of the storm.
In the storm of illness & disease, Jesus released his healing power
In the storm of the wind and waves, He unleashed his authority
In the storm of rejection, Jesus revealed his purpose to seek and save the lost
In the storm of the cross, He paid for the sins of the world
In the storm of the tomb, Jesus defeated darkness and death
In the storm of fire, He called and commissioned his church
In the storm of oppression, the Holy Spirit scattered the church
In the storm of opposition, the Spirit empowered his church
In the storm of persecution, Jesus’ church thrived, which continues right up to this present day!
Right here in the Metro, the people of Jesus faced 2020 with courage and resilience.
When the storm unleashed its fury, they unleashed compassion, care, and generosity with creative and innovative spirits.
As a result, lives were transformed, churches were planted, neighborhoods were impacted, the elderly were visited, the vulnerable were protected, food was distributed, and leaders were mobilized.
Enclosed in this package is Within Reach’s Annual Report, a detailed narrative of the impact of the local church in the Metro along with reflections from a handful of our leaders. I hope that you are encouraged to see that your faithful partnership and generous investment in the work of Within Reach is changing lives every day.
Through your partnership, King Jesus is glorified, His Church is mobilized, and the Metro is flooded with the unmistakable beauty of His Kingdom at work through our lives. Thank you for entrusting us with your resources. As a result of your partnership, we are excited and expectant about the future.
Grateful,
