The State of the City Project is the outcome of a two-year, in-depth research project inspired by a single question: “Do we truly know our city?” This eventually led to an even more important thought. “Unless we know the Omaha Metro, can we genuinely love or care for those who call it home?”

We are determined to become students of our city. We consulted with nationally respected information platforms and research organizations, listened to hundreds of Metro residents, and learned from respected local leaders in the fields of public and higher education, business, government, social services, neighborhood engagement, and faith. 

We invite you to open the State of City and discover a comprehensive picture of our city as it is today and a compelling picture of what can be tomorrow. As you do, please know that this project is simply intended to be a catalyst for the conversation, collaboration, and innovation that will emerge as leaders like you determine to work together for the good of the Metro.
